I offer three different coaching and mentoring programmes. The key is choosing the one that best fits your son or daughter’s needs, where they are in the job hunt, and the level of support that will genuinely make the biggest difference.

Before any programme begins, we will always start with what we call, in the trade, a chemistry call. In plain English, that means a complimentary one-hour exploratory conversation to see whether the fit is right.

I will obviously be there. The call can include the parent and the graduate, or just the graduate and myself. It depends entirely on what feels most appropriate for your situation.

By the end of the call, we will agree whether to move forward, and if so, which programme is likely to be the best fit.

It is called a chemistry call for a reason — although no Bunsen burners will be required.

You will not be entirely surprised to hear that research consistently shows the relationship between coach and coachee is one of the most important factors in whether coaching works. That matters. The graduate needs to feel able to talk openly, think honestly, be challenged properly, and leave each session clearer and more confident than when they arrived.

So the first step is simple: a conversation.

No pressure. No hard sell. Just a chance to explore what support would be most useful, whether the fit feels right, and how I might help them approach the job market with more clarity, confidence and momentum.

The Graduate Coaching Programs.

To help graduates and postgraduates compete more effectively in a tough job market, I offer three career and development coaching programmes.

Each one is designed to build the skills, knowledge, confidence and resilience needed to secure the right role — not just any role.

And yes, resilience matters. Trust me, they will need it.

The three options differ only in depth. The core support is consistent across all programmes: career coaching, CV enhancement, LinkedIn profile development, interview preparation, mock interviews, and practical support in presenting themselves more confidently and effectively.

Where the deeper options add value is through greater psychological insight.

The more insight a graduate has into their strengths, motivations, thinking style, interpersonal impact and development areas, the better equipped they are to navigate competitive selection processes, tricky interviews, psychometric assessments and the early stages of their career.

A top degree from a strong university is still valuable. Of course it is. But it no longer guarantees a smooth route into work. Not for many graduates anyway.

Employers are looking for more than academic achievement. They want evidence of potential, judgement, adaptability, motivation, self-awareness, communication skills and the ability to perform in a real organisational context.

Put simply, doing well at university does not automatically translate into doing well at work.

That is why this work matters.

As an Organisational Psychologist and experienced Executive Assessor, I use the kinds of tools and methods businesses themselves use when assessing people for recruitment, development and promotion. The aim is not to “game” the process. It is to help graduates understand themselves more clearly, present themselves more effectively, and prepare properly for the market they are now entering.

And a quick warning: I am a supportive coach, but I am also a tough assessor when I need to be.

So they should expect encouragement, but they should also expect honesty and challenge.

Because in this market, “I think I’ll be fine” is not a strategy.

The Program Options

Option One: In-Depth Assessment and Coaching

This is the most comprehensive option.

It is best suited to graduates or postgraduates who would benefit from deeper self-insight, greater confidence, stronger career direction and more robust preparation for competitive interviews and assessment processes.

It combines psychometric assessment, expert feedback, a written psychological profile and five focused coaching sessions, plus two additional follow-up sessions if they have not yet secured the right role.

What is included

Stage One: Psychometric Assessment
Completion of three psychometrics:

  • OPQ Personality Questionnaire

  • Hogan HDS

  • Swift Aptitude Test

Stage Two: Psychometric Validation and Career Development Coaching
A full feedback and validation session to explore the results, identify key themes, and agree the most useful next steps.

Stage Three: Bespoke One-Page Psychological Profile

  • Core strengths

  • Development areas

Option Two: Assessment Plus Coaching

This is the strong middle option.

It is best suited to graduates or postgraduates who want the benefit of psychometric insight and expert validation, but do not need a written psychological profile or additional follow-up sessions.

It still provides a powerful combination of assessment, coaching, CV development, LinkedIn enhancement and interview preparation.

Option Three: Coaching Only

This is the most direct option.

It is best suited to graduates or postgraduates who do not need formal psychometric assessment, but do need focused, practical coaching to improve their career direction, applications, interview performance and confidence.

No psychometrics. No written report. Just five focused coaching sessions designed to help them sharpen how they present themselves and compete more effectively in the job market.

It is particularly useful if your son or daughter already has a reasonable sense of the roles they are targeting, but needs help turning that into a stronger CV, a sharper LinkedIn profile, and much more confident interview performance.

Which option is right for your needs?

  • If your son or daughter would benefit from the deepest level of insight, preparation and support, Option One is the strongest choice.

  • If they want assessment insight plus practical coaching, Option Two gives them a powerful balance.

  • If they already have a reasonable sense of direction but need sharper applications, stronger interview performance and more confidence, Option Three may be exactly what they need.

  • The market is tough. But with the right preparation, they can give themselves a much stronger chance.

  • If your graduate or postgraduate son or daughter is beginning the job hunt and you want them to approach it with more confidence, clarity and structure, please do get in touch.

  • I would be very happy to talk through which option is likely to help them most.
